Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Art & Architecture Library (the “Library”) at sopiu.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. We may revise these terms from time to time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Lawful Personal Use
The Library is intended for lawful, personal, non-commercial use. You may browse, read, download, and print ebooks and other content for your own study, research, or enjoyment. Any commercial redistribution, systematic downloading, or use that infringes the rights of others is prohibited.
Prohibited Misuse
You must not:
- Use the Library for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
- Attempt to interfere with the functioning of the site, including introducing viruses, overloading servers, or disrupting access.
- Engage in automated extraction, scraping, or data mining of content without our prior written consent.
- Access or attempt to access areas of the site that are not publicly available.
Automated Extraction and Interference
Automated tools, bots, scripts, or similar technologies that systematically retrieve content from the Library are not permitted unless expressly authorized. Such activity may degrade service for other users and violates our terms. We reserve the right to block or limit access from any IP address or user agent that engages in abusive automated behavior.
Bibliographic and Transcription Limitations
The Library provides digital versions of texts that are often based on physical copies from libraries, archives, or private collections. While we strive for accuracy, transcriptions may contain errors, omissions, or inconsistencies introduced during scanning, optical character recognition, or manual entry. Bibliographic metadata, including publication dates, authors, and editions, is presented as available and may not be complete or verified. You are encouraged to consult original sources or multiple editions for critical research.
Jurisdiction-Dependent Copyright and Public-Domain Status
Ebooks in the Library are offered on the understanding that they are in the public domain in the United States and in many other countries. However, copyright laws vary by jurisdiction, and what is public domain in one country may still be protected in another. It is your responsibility to verify the legal status of any work before using it in a manner that may require permission. The Library does not guarantee that every ebook is free of copyright restrictions worldwide.
User Responsibility
You are solely responsible for your use of the Library and for ensuring that your use complies with applicable laws and these terms. The Library is provided as a resource for education and enjoyment, but we cannot advise on legal matters or assume liability for how you use the content.
Third-Party Links
The Library may contain links to external websites or resources. We have no control over those sites and are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or availability. Inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement.
Technical Availability
We aim to keep the Library accessible, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Maintenance, updates, technical issues, or circumstances beyond our control may result in temporary unavailability. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the site at any time without notice.
Editorial Notes and Presentation
The Library includes editorial commentary, reading guides, and thematic categorizations (such as “Inside the Classic” or “Context and Discussion”). These are the work of our editors and contributors and reflect their perspectives. They are not definitive interpretations and should not be treated as professional or scholarly advice. The presentation of a work in a particular category is for organizational purposes and does not constitute a scholarly claim.
Rights-Holder Notices
If you believe that any content on the Library infringes your copyright or other rights, please contact our editor at [email protected] with sufficient information to allow us to evaluate your claim. We respect intellectual property rights and will respond to valid notices promptly.
Warranty Disclaimer
THE LIBRARY AND ITS CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, MERCHANTABILITY, OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
Liability Limitation
TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE LIBRARY AND ITS EDITORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SITE OR INABILITY TO USE IT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID (IF ANY) TO ACCESS THE LIBRARY.
Suspension of Abusive Access
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to any user who violates these terms, engages in abusive behavior, or whose actions may harm the Library or other users. This includes, but is not limited to, excessive downloading, scraping, or any activity that imposes an unreasonable burden on our infrastructure.
Service Changes
We may change, add, or remove features of the Library at any time. These Terms of Use will apply to any modified version of the site unless we post a new version of the terms. We are not liable for any changes or discontinuation of services.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms of Use is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.
If you have questions about these terms, please contact Anne Plath, Poetry Editor, at [email protected].
